There comes a time in almost every iPad owner’s life where they will either have to or want to do a factory reset on their iPad. Whether you want a fresh start for your iPad or you are giving it to someone else, it’s something that you should know how to do if you ever want to revert your iPad back to factory settings.

Before you actually start your factory reset, make sure that everything you may want to save is backed up somewhere, other than on your iPad. Once you have done this, you can begin.

Go to your Settings App > General > Reset and tap on Erase All Content and Settings. A window will pop-up asking whether you would like to update your iCloud backup. You can either update it or tap Erase Now. At this stage, you will then need to enter your password and another window will appear asking if you are sure you want to erase the iPad. Tap Erase.

Once your iPad is done resetting, the “Hello” screen will appear as if it is a brand-new device. You don’t have to worry about any of your information existing on the iPad and can start from scratch or give it away without any worries.
