Keep reading to learn more about the what’s what of WhatsApp.

Voice Notes

Tired of re-recording your voice notes every time you get interrupted by a call? The pending voice note update will allow you to pause and resume recording with just a tap! You’ll also be able to preview your recording before sending.

Cross-system Chat Migration

While migrating your chat history from iOS to Samsung devices is already a feature of WhatsApp, one of the expected updates is to make cross-operating system migration a breeze for all devices!

Reactions

This is another update that we can attribute to Meta’s influence over the messaging platform – reactions! Just like in Facebook, you should soon be able to react to messages, such as liking or leaving a heart.

Two-step Verification

While WhatsApp has always prided itself on its end-to-end encryption technology, their two-step verification can be tedious, and there seems to be an update in the works to make this more manageable for users. The update includes the option to enable or disable two-factor authentication on desktop or WhatsApp Web should your device be compromised.

Dark Mode

Night owls rejoice – dark mode is on the cards for Windows users! This includes automatically switching over if your device settings favour dark mode when available. We’re hoping that we may also see this rolled out across other operating systems in the coming months.

If these sneak peaks are anything to go by, it seems that 2022 is set to be a big year for this messaging giant! Which of these updates has you most excited for the future of WhatsApp?
