Summer holidays usually mean more photos, more maps, more messages, more social media and a lot more time away from your usual routine.

Your phone ends up doing a lot of the heavy lifting, so it makes sense to give it a quick check before the festive season gets busy.

Start with your battery.

If your phone is already struggling to make it through the day, holiday use is only going to put more pressure on it. Long drives, navigation apps, taking photos and videos, streaming music and using mobile data can drain a tired battery quickly.

If you are constantly reaching for a charger, it may be worth having your battery health checked before your holiday starts.

Next, look at your storage.

There is nothing worse than trying to capture a great moment and seeing a “storage full” notification. Clear out old screenshots, duplicate photos, unused apps and downloads you no longer need. Backing up your photos and videos can also free up space before you start filling your camera roll again.

Your screen deserves some attention too.

A small crack may not feel urgent now, but travel, bags, beaches and everyday knocks can make existing damage worse. If your screen is already cracked or your touch response is unreliable, sorting it out beforehand can save you a lot of frustration later.

It is also worth checking your charging port. If your cable needs to sit at a certain angle or charging keeps cutting out, do not wait until you are away from home to deal with it.

Before the holidays, make sure you also:

  • Update your phone software
  • Back up important photos and contacts
  • Check that your charger and cable are working properly
  • Make sure your phone case and screen protector are still doing their job

A little preparation now can make a big difference later.

If your phone is not quite holiday-ready, bring it to The Real Repair Company for an expert assessment before the festive rush begins.
